USACE Permit Meetings for VDOT DB and LAP Projects

The Norfolk District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers is proposing to hold monthly meetings for Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Design-Build contractors (post-award) and localities that are operating under the VDOT Locally Administered Projects (LAP) Program.

The meetings will provide an opportunity to present projects to the Norfolk District Regulatory Office and obtain preapplication feedback that can be incorporated into the project before the submittal of a Joint Permit Application (JPA).  The meeting is led by the Corps to provide feedback relative to the Corps’ permitting process only and is not intended to supersede VDOT contracts, technical requirements, and/or any prior environmental commitments applied to the project.

The first meeting is scheduled for May 13, 2024 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. and will continue monthly on the second Monday of each month.

To have your project added to a monthly agenda, please email Kim Prisco-Baggett with your request, including:

  • Project name
  • Project location
  • Type of project:  Design-Build or LAP
  • Funding source
  • The desired meeting month
  • Whether you’d like VDOT to be present
  • Is there potential for Endangered Species, Historic Properties, and/or Corps of Engineers Civil Works Projects within or close to your project?

Once the Corp confirms the agenda, you will be asked to submit the presentation at least one week before the meeting.  If you have any questions about this process, contact Kim Prisco-Baggett.
