You may see a familiar face back at VTCA this summer as Jessica Roby returns for her second year as the Event Planning and Communications Intern. We are excited to welcome Jessica back to VTCA for another summer of learning the ropes within our industry and improving upon the skills she developed last year. Throughout her internship experience in the summer of 2023, Jessica was involved in many projects including planning the VTCA Annual Meeting. She has worked closely with our team and was able to contribute a great deal to our office and the members of VTCA. She states, “I am looking forward to another summer of exploring different facets of event planning and communication and I hope to learn even more about my future career field.”

Over this past year, Jessica has completed her senior year at Christopher Newport University and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies, minoring in Psychology and Women’s and Gender Studies. During her senior year, Jessica became a brother of Alpha Phi Omega and through this organization served the community of Newport News. She also served as the President for Ladies Adding Distinction in Every Stride (L.A.D.I.E.S.) club, where she was able to use skills from her summer with VTCA to foster meaningful connections and launch successful social media campaigns for the club.

This summer, Jessica will once again be assisting our staff in planning for upcoming events, developing communications, and learning skills necessary for her future career beyond VTCA.
