Greetings.  I hope this message finds everyone well.

As I write this letter I am filled with immense gratitude, a deep sense of responsibility and, more importantly, a feeling of great excitement of what the future holds as I assume the role of President of the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance. It is the true honor of my career to step into this leadership position and I am committed to continuing the legacy of excellence that has been established by the people who have preceded me.

Transportation is the backbone of Virginia’s economy. Our membership connects our communities, carries our goods, recruits out of state businesses, and positively touches every aspect of life in our great Commonwealth. Not only do we move people and products; we move possibilities, we drive progress, and we pave the way for future generations.

The question for our organization is; how do we channel our energy to support our membership, support VDOT,  and keep the Commonwealth of Virginia as the number one state in America to do business? That answer is to follow our newly completed three year strategic plan as prescribed.

  • Champion Sustainable Transportation Funding
    • We will work to protect current funding from threats and support new avenues to grow funding.
  • Engage Localities and Other Owners
    • We will establish effective relationships with the top five localities across two regions. Collaborate to problem solve with VTCA, localities, and VDOT.  Localities are being funded to the tune of close to $1.5B.
  • Support Members to Build Long-Term Market Capacity
    • We will connect members with resources to attract, develop and sustain their workforce, while supporting membership in demonstrating their capacity to complete transportation projects.
  • Grow Advocacy on Labor & Environmental Regulatory Issues
    • We will work to educate members, localities, and politicians on the impacts of mandatory PLA’s and changing environmental regulations with one voice.
  • Grow Membership Engagement
    • We will maintain a consistent member base while supporting recruitment of new members.
  • Develop Board and Staff
    • Create a long term succession plan for key staff, develop team skills, and recruit/onboard new Board members.

My vision for the Alliance is rooted in collaboration. Our success lies in our ability to bring together diverse voices from across the transportation sector; our members, VDOT, the General Assembly, and the communities we serve to ensure we are building and maintaining an infrastructure that is world class.

I would like to thank all of you for your dedication to the industry. I’m excited to work alongside you as we continue to advance the mission of VTCA. Together, we will navigate the challenges ahead, seize the opportunities before us, and build a transportation network that is second to none.

Let's go!!!
