Roanoke Public Schools: Work-Based Learning Experiences

Roanoke City Public Schools is implementing a new web-based platform for a Work-Based Learning (WBL) program that will operate as a job-posting board. Students will be able to search for WBL experiences using a variety of keywords and options.

Roanoke Public Schools need businesses who are willing to partner with them in this endeavor – businesses and organizations willing to provide students with a variety of experiences. These will range from mentoring to apprenticeships; from job shadowing to start-of-career jobs. Two forms need to be completed to list your business: BUSINESS and CONTACT. Once you have provided your information, Roanoke will process it to add you to the program.

Roanoke is also having their RCPS Works 2025 on April 17. This is an annual career fair offering an opportunity for students to find summer jobs, look at WBL experiences, learn about careers available in the Roanoke Valley, and build communication skills by interacting with our partner businesses and organizations. Many of these students will also be in need of employment. If you have not signed up, please do so by using this LINK

Lastly, these students also need to prepare to present themselves in a professional manner. Roanoke students can prepare with mock interviews, resume reviews, etc. We are looking to start these in March, most likely between March 3 and 12. If you are interested in helping, please click on this LINK.
