Member Spotlight - Bryant Structures, Inc.

On January 1, 2022, Bryant Contracting, Inc. completed its transition of all operations to Bryant Structures, Inc.  This date marked the conclusion of a 5-year process in which Bryant Structures, Inc. progressively built up its experience and capacity, positioning itself to build upon the 37-year reputation of Bryant Contracting, Inc.

The vision for Bryant Contracting, Inc. was always for the company and people to prosper long after its founder, Barry Bryant, retired. With this goal in mind, Mr. Bryant started a new company in 2016 called Bryant Structures, Inc. so that his employees would have an enjoyable place to work for the rest of their careers. To further achieve this goal, key employees from Bryant Contracting, Inc. were established as leaders for the new company. This continuity of leadership will allow Bryant Structures, Inc. to preserve the values, mission, and reputation of Bryant Contracting, Inc. well into the future.

Since its inception, Bryant Structures, Inc. has built an impressive portfolio performing work as both a subcontractor and prime contractor on major bridge projects in Eastern and Central Virginia. Bryant Structures, Inc. looks forward to building on the Bryant reputation in the years to come while continuing the mission “To build bridges and roads of the highest quality in an environment where we feel challenged, secure, and rewarded.”

Barry Bryant always valued advocacy for highway construction, serving as President of the Virginia Road and Transportation Builders Association in 2000 and as a member and chairperson of the VDOT-VRTBA Bridge and Structures Subcommittee for over 20 years.  Doug Jackson (President) served on the VTCA Board of Directors from 2008-2013 and the Contractor Leadership Committee from 2013-2020.  He continues to be engaged in VTCA issues.  Brett Shankles (Vice President) has been an active member of the Structure and Bridge Subcommittee since 2012.  Bryant Structures, Inc. will continue to be involved with VTCA in the future, helping to advocate for the industry as a whole and for small construction companies that have always played a critical role in the delivery of Virginia’s highway program.
