VTCA Board Retreat to VA Tech and Smart Road

On October 20-21, VTCA conducted our Board Retreat in Blacksburg, VA. The Board Retreat included a tour for VTCA Board Members and staff of the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute’s (VTTI) Smart Road and a the recently renovated Holden Hall, home for the Virginia Tech School of Mining and Minerals Engineering. Several prominent faculty and staff from VA Tech from Mining Engineering, Civil Engineering, and VTTI joined VTCA for dinner where many collaborative discussions ensued.

In addition to the tours of the Virginia Tech facilities, several VTCA Board members, along with a few VTCA Hokie alumni, celebrated in the presentation of the VTCA Aggregate Scholarships.

VTCA Aggregates awarded four academic scholarships this year valuing $7,500.00. All four recipients are VT students, three of the four are in the Mining & Minerals Engineering program, with the fourth in the Civil Engineering program that has strong ties to the mining industry. Currently, two of the recipients are headed for careers with VTCA Aggregate Producer members!

The four VTCA Aggregate Scholarship recipients are William Cook, Christopher Kreesee, Chase Miller, and Dylan Jennings. Congratulations!
