Caleb Ivill, VDOT’s Legal Operations Supervisor in the Business Integrated Solutions Division contacted VTCA inquiring about conducting the division meeting at an aggregate operation. This is a group within VDOT that probably doesn’t get out in the field too often to see the core function of VDOT of building and maintaining roads. This group attempts, when possible, to provide opportunities for their staff to experience the operational side of VDOT. Aggregates are the most prevalent product on VDOT projects!
Luck Stone, specifically Pete Compher, VP of Marketing & Logistics, and Bobby Kulczyk, Plant Manager, Rockville Quarry welcomed the group and facilitated hosting their meeting at the Rockville Quarry Training Room and providing a plant tour following their meeting.
The below is from a note sent to VTCA from Mr. Ivill:
“Thank you so much for facilitating our visit to the Luck Stone quarry last week. It was great to visit one of VDOT’s partners and see how their operations work. The enormity of the quarry was a site to behold. Pete and the two supervisors from Luck Stone were fantastic tour guides and extremely knowledgeable. They answered all of our questions and gave us great insight on their business. Everyone on the tour and attending our divisional meeting raved about the experience. As business analysts that don’t necessarily get out in the field, it was a pleasure to see a different part of VDOT and our partners operations.”
This event is part of VTCA’s Aggregate Member’s initiative to promote our industry and raise awareness of the products and services we provide and highlight the industry’s commitment to performing our work responsibly.
