VDOT’s Construction Division just released revised vehicle mileage rates for 2024. Standard rates for 2024 are increasing to 67 cents per mile (from 65.5 cents) while the reduced rate decreased a 0.5-cent to 37 cents per mile. The modest reduction in reduced rate, which is intended to cover the variable costs of operating a vehicle, reflects the IRS’s acknowledgement that the fixed costs (e.g., depreciation) have increased as a proportion of the total.
