With the spotlight on racial justice issues over the past year and a half, VTCA has engaged in focused dialogue around VTCA’s internal and external opportunities to provide leadership and resources for VTCA member companies.
Virginia Governor Northam issued Executive Directive 18 effective September 1, 2021.  The Directive addresses the implementation of measures to protect state employees and those that may come in contact with them from exposure to COVID-19.
VTCA-VDOT District Dialogues give attendees a unique opportunity to meet with VDOT leaders, locality representatives, and other transportation industry professionals to discuss specific projects and opportunities in the Districts.
Another successful Aggregates Clay Shoot was enjoyed by aggregate producer members and aggregate focused associate members.

A groundbreaking ceremony took place Wednesday, September 29, to widen a 7.4-mile stretch of U.S. Route 58 in Patrick County under an agreement between the Virginia Department of Transportation and Branch Civil Inc.
Transportation construction companies from three states were recognized for their outstanding employee safety programs during ARTBA's Annual Convention. 
Wagman participated in the 2021 United Way Day of Action for the United Way of York County on Friday, August 27, and Wagman’s Berryville, VA office participated in the United Way Day of Caring on September 15 for their local chapter of United Way, Northern Shenandoah Valley. 
With sadness, we have learned that Jack Hodge has passed. The former VDOT Chief Engineer and VRTBA/VTCA Board member died peacefully on Saturday, October 2, in Roanoke, Virginia. He was 88. 
Luck Stone, the nation’s largest family-owned and operated producer of crushed stone, sand, and gravel, announced the acquisition of North Carolina-based Ararat Rock Products, which operated quarries in Mount Airy and Eden.
Chaney Enterprises will acquire three Branscome ready-mix concrete plants with locations in the lower Chesapeake and Virginia Eastern Shore region: Chesapeake, Oak Hall, and Nassawadox.

Effective Oct. 10, Nelson will be responsible for the construction, maintenance and operations maintenance, project development and business functions of nearly 10,500 lane miles in the Culpeper District’s nine counties: Albemarle, Culpeper, Fauquier, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Orange, and Rappahannock.
The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Local Assistance Division and Environmental Division have launched the first in a series of certification modules for consultants working on VDOT projects and/or locally administered projects.
