A few words from our new VTCA President, Bob Gallagher.
After a review from a broad pool of diverse candidates, VTCA is pleased to announce Kevin McGhee will take the position of Engineering Consultants and Associates Program Manager, effective September 1. 
Following a robust workforce solutions discussion at the VTCA annual conference last month, VTCA’s workforce development task force has initiated a resource list of solutions for members looking to address the problem.

Virginia Tech is in the final stages of completing the renovation of Holden Hall. Holden Hall houses the Mining & Mineral Engineering Department at VA Tech. One of the most prominent features of the renovated facility is the Center for Autonomous Mining Systems – informally known as the mock mine.
The tours were designed to educate the teachers on not only the geology of the host aggregate operation but to include educating them on the processing of the material and the many uses for aggregate materials with a focus on safety and the environment of our operations.

Engineering and construction firms and interested industry partners are invited to join NCDOT and Virginia Passenger Rail Authority leadership in person to learn more about anticipated engineering and construction opportunities provided by the Raleigh to Richmond (R2R) Corridor Infrastructure Engineering and Safety Program.
VDOT’s Materials Division has released Memorandum MD 452-22 updating the test method for pavement markers and aligning it with current specifications. 
In this role, he will oversee all scientific research conducted and implemented by VTRC for VDOT in the areas of safety, operations and traffic engineering; pavements; structures; and planning and environment.
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers-Norfolk District Regulatory Branch (Army Corps) reauthorized State Program General Permits (22-SPGPs) for the Commonwealth of Virginia effective August 8.
