The National Stone, Sand and Gravel Association held their annual Legislative and Policy Forum in DC last week. NSSGA had several great presentation and events associated with the Forum, but the highlight of the conference was the Hill Day Capitol Hill visits by aggregate producers.

For nearly a decade, Ed Dalrymple, President of Cedar Mountain Stone and Chemung Contracting, has been at the forefront of workforce development initiatives for training programs designed to provide individuals skills training and opportunities to earn credentials related to construction and mining careers.  

We know that reaching out to schools in your area can seem like a daunting task, but spreading the word about the wide range of successful construction career paths and shifting the public’s perception of careers in our industry is vital to our longevity. 

With a heavy heart, VTCA wanted to pass on some news, particularly to the “old timers” with Florida Transportation Builders Association. Curtis Lucado passed away on August 31. Curtis was President of Wiley N. Jackson Company at the time of Wiley N. Jackson selling in 1987.
