AMT’s Chief Administrative Officer and Senior Vice President, Murphy Tuomey, has been honored by Virginia Business among its 2023 Women in Leadership Awards. 
On July 3, Gordon Dixon, VTCA Executive Vice President, and Rob Lanham, VTCA Aggregate Producer Program Manager, met with Glenn Davis, the recently appointed Director of Energy. Virginia Energy is one of the twelve agencies under the Secretary of Commerce and Trade and oversees Virginia’s Mineral Mining Program.
VTCA Aggregate Producers are at it once again! We are hosting a series of Quarry Tours designed for educational professionals. Through the tours, teachers earn professional development credits while learning the importance of Virginia’s Aggregate Industry. Assisting with this year’s tours has been geologists from Virginia Energy’s Geology Program.

 The U.S. Department of Labor on June 30 announced a proposal by its Mine Safety and Health Administration to amend current federal standards to better protect the nation’s miners from health hazards related to exposure to respirable crystalline silica, or silica dust. The proposed rule change will ensure miners have at least the same level of protections as workers in other industries.
At its regular meeting held in Richmond on June 22, the State Water Control Board adopted the Virginia Erosion and Stormwater Management Regulation and approved multiple regulatory updates to ensure that programs administered by the Virginia Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ) are responsive to legal requirements and environmental conditions.
