The VTCA Smoke Schools are designed to produce qualified observers who can make plume opacity determinations that are accurate and minimally affected by variable field conditions.
 
The VTCA Contractor Safety Awards recognize outstanding commitment to safety in the transportation industry. These awards celebrate companies that demonstrate exceptional safety practices, innovative safety programs, and a strong safety culture within their organizations.
 
Virginia Energy and VTCA sponsor the annual Virginia Mineral Mine Safety Awards and Reclamation awards, a very successful program that recognizes companies and mineral miners for outstanding safety achievements and those who have performed exemplary or innovative reclamation of lands previously disturbed for mining in Virginia’s mineral mining industry.
VTCA’s Contractor Leadership Committee (CLC) has three new members joining the committee this summer. Chris Blevins, W-L Construction and Paving; Michael Gorman, General Excavation, Inc.; and Charles Tamayo, Virginia Sign and Lighting started their terms on July 1. 
The Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance provides financial assistance to help deserving young individuals pursuing education in college or technical education programs that may lead to the transportation construction industry. This award is distributed to indvidual's annually and is a major accomplishment. We are thrilled to announce the winners of the Virginia Transportation Construction Alliance Scholarship: Desalegn Gemechu, Ethan Turner, and Caleb West!

A new coalition of business and education leaders has formed to highlight the economic strengths of Southwest and Southside Virginia and advocate for infrastructure improvements in these areas.
 
Named the Blue Ridge Innovation Corridor (BRIC), the group focuses on promoting the economic potential of the Blacksburg, Roanoke, Danville, and Martinsville metropolitan areas. Virginia Tech and its research institutions, along with the Institute for Advanced Learning and Research in Danville, serve as major anchors for BRIC.
VTCA has assembled resources to assist our members in complying with the Final Powered Haulage Rule - MSHA Safety Program for Surface Mobile Equipment. The rule is now in effect.
