Holcim US announced today the acquisition of the business of King William Sand & Gravel Co., Inc., a private company with a long-standing presence in King William County, Virginia. With this strategic transaction, Holcim gains high-quality sand and gravel reserves that will serve the construction needs of customers in the Central Virginia area of the Mid-Atlantic region.

In a significant move to strengthen the future of the mining industry, the U.S. Senate has unanimously passed the Mining Schools Act of 2023 (S. 912) on July 10, 2024.
VA Energy is once again offering its free MSHA Law Seminar. This seminar is a great opportunity for operators to learn and refresh themselves on many aspects of MSHA laws and regulations.
The National Stone, Sand & Gravel Association (NSSGA) is proud to announce that it has been awarded a five-year, $9.65 million grant by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). With the EPA grant funding and support, NSSGA aims to provide the aggregates industry with essential resources to robustly produce and release Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs); establish guidelines on best management practices for reducing CO2 emissions; and enhance the industry’s capacity to sequester CO2. 
VDOT’s Design Technologies Support Group has issued an update concerning renewal of design software licensing. Any licenses that were issued prior to June 2024 have since expired. The new Bentley contract is now in place, effective July 1, 2024. 
Earlier this spring the White House’s Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) issued the Phase 2 Notice of Final Rulemaking (NOFR) along with revisions to regulations on implementing the procedural provisions of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA).
