VTCA Aggregate Members Aid in Hurricane Helene Relief
  
Along with Western North Carolina and Eastern Tennessee, many areas in Southwest Virginia were devastated by flooding caused by Hurricane Helene in late September. VTCA Aggregate Members have been supplying aggregate products to aid in the rebuilding of roads, culverts, and bridges. 
VTCA Advocacy: How PLAs Discriminate Against Local, Minority, and Woman-Owned Businesses
It’s hard to conceive of a more self-defeating economic development policy for supporting local Virginia businesses than government-mandated Project Labor Agreements, but they also discriminate against minority and woman-owned construction firms which, according to the National Black Chamber of Commerce.

Register for the VTCA-VDOT Hampton Roads District Dialogue
Join us, along with industry peers, Hampton Roads District Staff and local leaders for education and networking at this year’s Hampton Roads District Dialogue.  The program will include insight into VDOT’s transportation program specific to the Hampton Roads District.
 
This year’s Aggregate Producer Safety Seminar will offer a wide range of important safety topics. Along with presentations from industry and safety professionals. MSHA and the Virginia Department of Energy – Mineral Mining Program will provide updates as to what’s new with the Regulatory Agencies. We will also discuss the numerous safety resources Mineral Mining offers.

Pay Tribute to Lives Lost in Work Zone Incidents
The ATSS Foundation kindly sends out a call in gathering the names of men, women and children who lost their lives in roadway work zone incidents. The ATSS Foundation’s mission is to honor each individual by including their name on the traveling National Work Zone Memorial - Respect and Remembrance: Reflections of Life on the Road.
 
Major Change to Contractor Erosion Certifications
All Contractor’s Erosion and Sediment Control Contractor Certifications (ESCCC) issued to date will no longer be valid as of July 1, 2025. The premature end is effective regardless of the date shown on the certification card.

VDOT Materials Division Manual of Instructions Update
VDOT’s Materials Division has published significant changes to MD 464-24, which provides guidance for the design of rock slopes, cuts, and remediation of rockfall hazards. The memorandum outlining the new Section 305 language, with changes shown, is available for review at MD 464-24.
