The ATSS Foundation kindly sends out a call in gathering the names of men, women and children who lost their lives in roadway work zone incidents. The ATSS Foundation’s mission is to honor each individual by including their name on the traveling National Work Zone Memorial - Respect and Remembrance: Reflections of Life on the Road.
 
Luck Companies, the nation’s largest family-owned and operated producer of aggregates, announced that Richard Luck has been named as President of Luck Companies.  With this announcement, the over 100-year-old company enters its fourth generation of family leadership.
 
The good times continue to roll! VTCA and VA Energy presented more individual safety awards to miners that reached years of service milestones without a lost time accident. This time the show was in Lynchburg and Boxley’s Lawyers Road Plant to recognize six Boxley miners.
 
The year was 1974 and the man was Charlie Ryan. He left a successful career in television to open, what seemed to be at that time, a risky business – a public relations shop with only one employee, himself.
 
Fifty years later Charles Ryan Associates (CRA) is a women-owned, SWaM-certified, strategic communications firm working for some of the largest brands in the country, with clients spanning more than 30 states in the last several years.

VDOT just announced a number of major revisions to the Manual of the Structure and Bridge Division.  The revisions were released through a series of memoranda that were distributed to “Holders of the Manual”.  
VTCA will remain vigilant in tracking and reporting TMDL developments, studies, and cleanup plans, but there are many, at least several every month at different stages. However it is possible that we may occasionally miss reporting some. VTCA encourages members that may be impacted by TMDL developments sign up for Virginia Regulatory Town Hall notifications to ensure of when your operations may be in watersheds that fall within TMDL developments.
The Virginia Transportation Research Council has commenced research centered around developing polishing standards for carbonic aggregates.  
VDOT issued revisions to Chapters VIII, V, and VI of the Materials Division’s Manual of Instructions.
