The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Construction Division has updated its Rules Governing Prequalification. The Department’s new policy language is intended to streamline the application process and reduce the administrative burden for contractors. The new policy, which took effect on March 5, represents a significant update to the program.

Roanoke City Public Schools is implementing a new web-based platform for a Work-Based Learning (WBL) program that will operate as a job-posting board. Students will be able to search for WBL experiences using a variety of keywords and options. 
The advertisement for Candlers Mountain Rd Bridge and Interchange Replacement CEI Services has been withdrawn.  The decision to withdraw and delay the advertisement was warranted while VDOT’s Lynchburg District developed a firmer schedule for actual project construction, which is not anticipated before Summer/Fall of 2026. 
Karen Kee has been named Program Manager for VDOT’s Construction Engineering and Inspection (CEI) services.  In this position, Karen will be responsible for managing CEI procurements and overseeing the programmatic administration of CEI contracts.  With over 25 years of experience with the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT), Karen has served in the Hampton Roads and Richmond Districts, as well as in Central Office. 
This event is the culmination of months of planning and key collaborations with the North American Excavation and Shoring Association (NAXSA) and the Virginia Department of Fire Programs Training and Technical Rescue Division. Registration is free and includes breakfast and lunch.
