Start to Summer Brings Career Strategies

A Summary of Wnet Career Month, Sponsored by Green Rhino Recruitment

Wnet’s Career Month, sponsored by Green Rhino Recruitment,  is a response to consistent requests from Wnet members for direction and resources in shaping their career.

Wnet relied on the expertise of their Board and members, crafting a variety of virtual events – panels, breakout sessions, interactive speakers – that provided diverse perspectives and tools that could be applied to a personal career plan immediately. Most of these educational events can be viewed on wnetonline.org for free for Wnet members.

June Career Month had more than 920 attendees and a variety of topics: Velera Wilson spoke on Confidence to Command Your Worth in the Workplace – an interactive webinar designed to help women advance their careers and thrive as leaders. This event was a powerhouse kickoff.  It was so well-received that Wilson will sign copies of her book, “You’re Absolutely Worth It” onsite at the Wnet Leadership Summit in November.

The 2nd week gave Wnet members the opportunity to pick the brain of Leila Uslander, a LinkedIn Corporate Executive, during LinkedIn Lunch & Learn: How to harness and build your personal brand. In addition to sharing new LinkedIn services and tricks for promotion of posts and profiles, Leila answered specific questions on LinkedIn topics and upcoming trends.

Navigating Your Career (June 15) was a popular event, allowing attendees to choose two of four speakers for small, virtual breakout sessions of 20 minutes. Topics included “Consciously Directing Your Career” with Garima Shah and “Removing Doubt from Your Job Search” with Elizabeth Lions.

During the 3rd week, we dove in with two well-attended events: Ask a Recruiter Panel on June 23, where Liz Pike asked a panel of four payments & fintech recruiters timely questions from hiring managers and candidates, and gave insights into post-pandemic market trends.

“I LOVED this intimate format of being able to ask questions to executives in a small setting.”

– Event Attendee

The next event of that week was the first in a three-part PayTechWomenLead series. This new leadership education curriculum includes a Certificate Program that members will receive after attending all three virtual events. Jennifer Acosta and Eva Robinson of JP Morgan spoke on Personal Brand - Building on Your Strengths and Overcoming Perceptions.

“**Amazing Event***BRILLIANTLY UNIQUE* Thanks for all the information that can assist us in our daily lives.”

– Rasma Sauri-Borras
Risk Analyst, Paya Services

Throughout the Month Wnet’s Tampa, North Texas, Southern California and Bay Area Chapters also hosted Chapter Linkups focused on networking, strengths finding and the return to the workplace.

Wnet had so much interest in Career Month that we not only plan to do the same in 2022, we have also extended the fun into July. On July 13, Martina King (CEO, Featurespace) will speak in the 2nd PayTechWomenLead Event: Sponsorship: The Secret to Accelerating Your Career. Register here. We hope to see you there!
