RockTenn, Peoples Gas Break Ground for Natural Gas in Fernandina Beach

RockTenn, Norcross, Ga., USA, and Tampa, Fla.-based TECO Peoples Gas held a groundbreaking ceremony this past week in Fernandina Beach, Fla., to celebrate construction beginning on the pipeline that will deliver natural gas to RockTenn's containerboard mill. The line will connect the Peoples Gas Jacksonville distribution system to RockTenn's mill.
"This mill has been part of Fernandina Beach for 75 years. RockTenn is thrilled to join this community via the May 2011 acquisition of Smurfit Stone and to be a partner in bringing natural gas to the island's residents and businesses," said Jim Porter, president, Corrugated Packaging and Recycling at RockTenn. "At the mill, converting to natural gas helps ensure our competitive market position and ultimately that means stable RockTenn jobs here in Fernandina Beach."
TECO Peoples Gas recognized representatives from RockTenn, the city of Fernandina Beach, and Nassau County for their partnership on the project.
