TAPPI Industry Career Center: Voith Paper seeks Product and Service Specialist

The Product and Service Specialist (PSS) generates orders and sales for Voith Paper, BL Products & Services. The PSS is responsible for promoting the FES division’s products and services to Mid-Atlantic and Northeast territory customers, helping them understand how those products, repairs, and services will support their needs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develop and maintain relationships with Customers in the Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Territories gaining an understanding of how Voith Paper can serve their needs.
- Extensive travel to visit customers and job sites, to manage and develop the consumable, spare parts and service business for the products and services group.
- Research, execution and follow up reporting on service outages.
- Uncover existing opportunities at the mill and forward information for further follow up.Additionally work with RSM to support and train with RSM.
- Support territory Customer Service Specialist to ensure that Voith gets maximum opportunity for Spares and Repairs business.
- Provide feedback to Voith Paper FES through call reports and verbal communication to ensure Voith Paper provides the optimal solutions, services to our customer.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required:
- Understand Voith Paper FES products and benefits
- Communicate with product managers for training on products
- Learn details of mechanical and process features of FES products
- Pursue discussion with customers and colleagues to learn how the products will benefit the customer
- Determine customer needs in the territory
- Probe customer to ensure we understand their needs and goals in recycling and stock preparation
- Learn the customer local process in detail
- Visit customer frequently to ensure our products are at the right reinforce our knowledge of their process
- Question customer frequently on standard operating procedures and expected outcomes
- Ensure existing customers are satisfied with Voith Paper products and services
- Build a record of Voith FES installed base in the territory
- Communicate with multiple levels of Customer organization for feedback on Voith product and services
- Understand how the Voith products can impact customer operations, positively or negatively
- Provide feedback to Voith Product managers
- Determine product competitiveness, competitors activities
- Define market needs for Voith products and services.
Required Experience:
- Minimum of five years’ experience with pulp and paper supplier firm or experience working in a paper mill
- Excellent understanding of the paper industry with emphasis on recycling and stock preparation
- Skilled in communications with Customers with an ability to focus on strategic opportunities and benefits based approaches
- Self-starter who can develop opportunities independently and communicate with a wide variety of resources within Voith Paper
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and ability to write detailed technical and inspection reports.
Education:
Associates degree, technical college or equivalent in engineering technology or paper science.
