You asked, we listened. Filling jobs and keeping the market growing is a critical part of realizing SPF industry success. Unemployment rates are low, the economy is buzzing, and having the staff you need to get the job done is essential also to your company's success. With workforce development a high priority for SPFA, helping the industry fill positions becomes an obvious and valuable role for the association. It is widely recognized that the unique position of industry professional associations affords great opportunity to play a central role in advertising, promoting, filling and celebrating the niche markets they serve. Rather than having your posting buried in thousands of other jobs on the large national job boards, SPFA has a built-in custom audience, relationships to promote the job board externally to prospective talent pools, and resources to draw attention to the service and posted positions through our national trade publication Sprayfoam Professional Magazine, bi-weekly newsletter, and our social media accounts. Today is a soft-launch announcement of the service. There are jobs currently posted through a feeder-service from Indeed. SPFA receives from time to time from members a request to help fill an open position, or if we know of anyone looking for a certain position. This is something that has gone on informally in the background for years. It’s time to make it a real thing. The first position was added just this week – Gold Star to Larry Ash at United Thermal Systems in New York. Feel free to visit www.spfa.boxwoodgo.com/jobs, post a job (free for SPFA members), look through jobs, and consider how this new service will become a resource for you whether you are a manufacturer, contractor, or anything in between. As the service is used, it will be refined and improved. Formal launch is scheduled for Tuesday, September 17, 2019. For more information, questions or for any reason, contact SPFA.

You have probably heard that the PCP Field Exams will not be offered in Pasadena, CA at Sprayfoam 2020. During the pre-convention days of Tues-Wed, February 11-12, we are going to hold an SPF Street Festival. There will be plenty of fun, games, competitions and opportunities to ‘ask the experts’ in topics relevant to the SPF professional.
We have heard from OSHA and Cal OSHA that they can participate in our Festival. As part of their community outreach, they want to answer any questions you have and explain or demonstrate anything that is unclear. So far, contractors have suggested Fall Protection and Respiratory Protection. To make certain they are prepared, they’ve asked us to reach out to contractors for questions or information that would be most helpful to have answered or be shown. Please help us put a list of your most pressing questions, concerns or issues together to share with OSHA. Please email them to Kelly Marcavage, kmarcavage@sprayfoam.org . We look forward to hearing from you!

Beware of pirates and poachers! SPFA contracts for blocks of hotel rooms at discounted rates for the benefit of our attendees. Pirates and poachers not only jeopardize the show’s ability to meet its obligations, but also place attendees in danger of increased fees, credit card theft and phony reservations, resulting in no hotel room at all! PIRATE: A fictitious business, often with a name like “Convention Housing Services.” A pirate will contact faculty, exhibitors or potential attendees. The pirate claims to be working with the show and will pressure you to reserve and pay for a hotel room immediately due to low inventory. They charge your credit card and also collect the information for future use but no hotel rooms are reserved. POACHER: Hotel poachers, also known as third-party room-block marketing firms, often present themselves as either the official housing agency for a conference or authorized by it to book hotel reservations. A poacher offers hotel rooms outside of the show’s contracted block. REMEMBER: SPFA WILL NOT TELEPHONE INDIVIDUALS REGARDING THE PURCHASE OF HOTEL RESERVATIONS. PIRATES and POACHERS often misrepresent themselves by illegally using our logo. When seeking SPFA information or conducting SPFA-related transactions online, remember that our URL is https://www.sprayfoam.org If you are in doubt, please do not hesitate to contact us at info@sprayfoam.org or 800-523-6154.
