Using content donated by Anchor Insulation of Pawtucket, RI, the SPFA Safety Committee has developed a new ToolboxTalk program. This program, contained in a 129-page downloadable document, provides 52 weekly toolbox talks designed just for spray foam contractors.
Each talk is summarized on a single page and provides a team leader with 15-20 minutes of content on a specific safety topic. It also includes a sign-in sheet for each topic for recordkeeping. The package is organized so that if Week 1 content is delivered during the first week of January, the remainder of the year will address seasonal safety issues.
The ToolboxTalk program is available to members-only portion of the SPFA website. Should you have questions or comments, please contact Rick Duncan ( rickduncan@sprayfoam.org).

On November 6, OSHA issued a press release, outlining guidance and a one-page summary alerting employers to the most commonly cited standards related to COVID-19 inspections, including Respiratory Protection, Recording and Reporting Occupational Injuries and Illnesses, Personal Protective Equipment, and the General Duty Clause.
In a separate recent press release, OSHA announced that since the start of the pandemic, they have issued 204 citations resulting from inspections for COVID-19 related violations, with total proposed penalties of $2,856,533. The press release also details common COVID-19-related violations.
While construction is consistently classified as an essential industry in all states, it is important that all construction workers follow proper guidelines on the jobsite.

SPFA is doing its part to bring awareness of open positions in the industry to our members, partners, and untapped talent pools. For every one of these positions going unfilled it’s an opportunity missed, an extra staffing challenge drawing attention away from other important priorities, or a customer perhaps needing to wait longer than they should have to.
