SPFA News and Announcements
This marks half a century (yes, 5-0) of the SPF industry being served by a trade association. It all started in 1973 with the Urethane Foam Contractors Association. Through the years, that association has taken on new names but in 2003, SPFA, as we currently know it, was named. It has operated independently for the past 20 years. Full details will be outline on the SPFA website in two weeks, but here are the highlights: •New, EASIER submission process – contractors can now submit a brief video recording of their project (2 minutes) with a verbal description. For contractors who prefer to do written submission, they will be accepted but in a concise format with bulleted items, not paragraphs. •Judging will be done by two groups – the vote of each group is weighed 50/50 of the overall vote totals. 1)Panel of judges (industry experts) 2)SPFA Members (A Contractor or Supplier Member company has one vote in each of the seven categories. Voting Rep is person authorized to ‘cast the vote.’) •Small Contractor’s Projects will be entered in appropriate category; however, all Small Contractor Projects will then also be evaluated against others and the project with the most votes will be recognized as the Winner/Runner Up. Small Contractor Projects (Small contractor has five or fewer field employees) •A company can make ONE ENTRY per category. That company can do submissions in more than one category.

Industry News and Announcements
As we know, 2023 has been an extremely hot summer throughout most of the US. With SPF installers working on hot roofs, inside attics and even inside certain buildings, heat illness should be a key concern for all SPF contractors. OSHA issued a heat hazard alert on July 27th to help address heat illness. This link provides resources to help avoid the potential deadly effects of prolonged exposure to heat. Additionally, SPFA hosted a webinar in July on this topic as part of our Tech Tuesday Webinar series, presented by Chris King of Anchor Insulation. The recorded webinar and presentation deck can be viewed and downloaded by SPFA members HERE. All contractors should be aware of the effects of heat illness and take steps to keep everyone cool and hydrated during the dog days of summer!
